Although most of our Happy Palm Stays vacation retreats are located primarily on the Space Coast, we do venture outside the lines every so often wanting to spread the comfort and style as far out as we can, and our Fort Pierce, Florida sanctuaries offer the perfect example. Located on what is known as the “Treasure Coast” and providing the comforts, the luxuries, and the style you have come to expect from Happy Palm Stays, your adventures at home will be most comfortable ones. And because we want our guests to enjoy a well-rounded vacation experience, we have put together this Fort Pierce activities guide to the Fort Pierce area, introducing travelers to all that make this part of Florida one worthy of further exploration.
Activities/Attractions
Although the beaches in Florida are more than likely the biggest attraction when it comes to Florida, and the beaches of Fort Pierce, South Beach Park, Heron Beach, and Pepper Park Beach are destined to be where you find peace, serenity, and fun, there is another side of Florida that we know you will appreciate, and that side involves the military. It is nearly impossible to visit anywhere in Florida without discovering how much we appreciate and honor the heroes of the military, as our state is home to 20 major military bases, and the Fort Pierce area is no exception. Home to the Fort Pierce Naval Amphibious Training Base it is where the Navy Seals are trained and the National Navy UDT-SEAL Museum is destined to be one of your favorite attractions to visit. Located at 3300 N Highway A1A, the museum offers an unprecedented peek into the rarely examined world of the Navy Seals, perhaps even enticing your own children to look to a future in the Navy. Currently the museum is the only one of its kind, but in mid-2025 San Diego will be opening a second one.
Restaurants
The best vacations are the ones with the best food options and in Florida, you have to expect that the seafood will be absolute perfection and you would be right in that assumption. The restaurants listed below give you a taste of Florida that will haunt your dreams in all the best ways.
Captain’s Gallery, 825 Indian River Drive
If we have learned nothing else over the years, we have figured out that if a restaurant has a long history, then the food it serves must be something special, and the Captain’s Gallery is all the proof we need. In business for nearly 40 years and offering a menu filled with breakfast and lunch foods that you will obsess over, THIS is where your restaurant dreams will come true. Providing a taste of nearly every breakfast food you can imagine, the ingredients used are fresh and locally sourced, taking your Traditional French Toast Breakfast to elevated levels you never knew were possible.
Taco Dive, 208 N 2nd Street
Billing themselves as “Not your average hole in the wall,” Taco Dive will make your taste buds cry with delight as you take a tour of a menu filled with Americas favorite handheld, the humble taco. They offer every variety of goodness you can imagine and feature prices so reasonable, you may find yourself going back for seconds, or even thirds—especially when you taste their steak tacos made with marinated steak, shredded cabbage, tomato, thinly sliced radishes, queso fresca crumbles, and drizzled with Dive sauce for your dining delight.
12A Buoy, 22 Fisherman’s Wharf
If you think you are going to be able to leave Fort Pierce without at least trying one seafood dinner, you are about to be sadly disappointed. 12A Buoy, offering a prime location with stunning views of the Indian River and a menu filled with the best treats from the sea. Appetizers such as Bahamian Conch Fritters and steamed mussels will help put a dent in your hearty appetite and their crab stuffed shrimp are a delight that should not be missed.
Events
The fun continues with a quick glimpse into some of the special events that take place throughout the year in Fort Pierce, giving travelers an even better idea of the adventures they can expect to enjoy during their stay on the Treasure Coast.
We believe that Friday should be celebrated, and in Fort Pierce, the first Friday of every month is at Friday Fest. Designed to introduce newcomers to the wonders of Fort Pierce, this is the longest running street fair on the Treasure Coast, providing arts, crafts, food, and drink vendors, as well as a selection of activities that will be great fun for travelers of all ages!
